The fashion weeks being done for the Spring-Summer, we can take a step back to look at all that stole the show this year. Of course there were the beautiful clothes but what was more interesting were the choice of colors that the designers picked. Colour riot best describes the shades that ruled the Spring Summer runways around the world. And what is better than reviewing some of the beautiful colours that are here to stay before upgrading our summer wardrobe.
Greenery- Pantone, the authority on the colours had declared Greenery to be the colour of the year. Be it the dark green of forests or the bright green of lush valleys and light green of sprouting leaves on a tender shoot, you can wear any shade of green. And this year designers like Celine, Emilio Pucci, Alice+Olivia to Michael Kors everyone had something to offer to you in this shade. So embrace the greenery and go green.
Primrose Yellow- Yellow has definitely been making a comeback. But it was the beauty of primrose yellow which made a fresh debut on the runways of the likes of Dries Vans Noten’s monochromatic yellow numbers or Gucci’s dramatic perspective on a ruffled dress with poetic sleeves. Nothing brightens a dull day like yellow and especially in a shade which is as pretty as primrose itself.
Lapis Blue- Jewel tones are a major hit this year. And to take our obsession with precious stones and convert their textures in clothes the designers have given us some major swoon worthy pieces. From the knitted dresses at Boss or the model decked head to toe in lapis blue at Salvatore Ferragamo runway to the illusory prints in this elegant shade at Mary Katrantzou was nothing less than magical. And if you are ever looking for a magical evening with your date, then go looking for something in lapis blue.
Niagara- If you love your blues then besides the sparkling lapis, you need to see for yourself the gorgeous Niagara cascading down the runways in sweeping evening gowns, cool sports luxe dresses and sparkling evening gowns. From Altuzarra to Zac Posen, everyone has got something in silk, Python prints in this colour to rustling ruffles, get anything you desire in this vibrant shade of blue.
Pale Dogwood Pink- Pink in its palest pastel shade is stealing the show. From evening gowns to stylish summer wraps, the colour was spotted at the runways around the world, from Blumarine to Chanel, Christopher Kane and even Banana Republic. This muted neutral colour is a must have this Spring summer because it goes with everything you shall wear this summer.
Hazelnut- A warm welcoming colour inspired by hazelnut as its name goes, this colour is elegant. From Baja East’s slouchy pieces to street style pieces at Zadig & Voltaire and exquisite silhouettes at Creatures of the Wind, this shade took our breath away.
Aqua Blue- Blues have been reigning the runways this season. To add to the shades of blue, there is now the aqua shade inspired by the islands waters. This shade gives the feel of being as light as air and of endless summers. We caught up on this shade in the delicate lace dresses at both Lela Rose and Monique Lhullier, the windswept tulle dresses at Emilio Pucci or the checkered dresses at Altuzarra. Don’t forget to pick yourself one for your next beach getaway to some exotic islands.
Flame- The colour of fire when transcended to the runways lit it up like fireworks. The vibrant shade found a place at Christian Siriano’s runway where models were wrapped in this shade while Oscar de la Renta made exquisite evening gowns out this bright vibrant colour and not forgetting the flaming bright jumpsuits at Sportmax. Now if you just want to add a little extra colour to your wardrobe and toning it down with neutral shades.
Pink Yarrow- A vibrant pink shade that grabs all the attention wherever it goes. This shade made all the noises in the runways of Valentino in jacquard pieces and those of Balenciaga, Zac Posen and Hermes who designed beautiful dresses in this bright colour. Now if you in for bright burst of colour you know what to need to get.
Kale- This neutral green shade made an appearance not only in the fit and flare skirts at Salvatore Ferragamo or Sonia Rykiel’s leather skirt or even the cutout evening dresses at Balmain. But it also got translated to exquisite footwear and accessories at Versus Versace. This is one of those colours which one can were all year round, so don’t think twice.
