With 84 Designers, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort started on 18th of March. This season was even more formidable as many new designers were a part of it. Lakme has always been fair in providing platform to the worthy new designers. India’s exceptional and renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee opened the season with an offsite show.
Manish Malhotra presented the “Blue Runway” Collection in association with WEvolve on DAY 1 introducing a new dimension with a social message of change. The color for this season were hues of blue with bold touches of yellow indicating the promise of a bright future.
Raghavendra Rathore represented Indian Heritage and Royal Sophistication on DAY 2 Riteish Deshmukh being the show stealer in his desi royal look.
DAY 3 ended with Gauri Khan’s debut collection “A Tropical Wonder” for the Satya Paul Brand. Matching the theme, the prints were botanical in nature including season’s colours like citrus, pastel and aquatic shades. The styles consisted of tunics, kaftans, sheer shirts, saree and free flowing garments.
Another highlight of the show was Masaba’s Unique Vibrantly Colourful “Sugar Plum” Show. For the first time in the history of Indian Fashion the world watched this show live on social media platform, Instagram. Candy colours came alive in mini flared skirt, tiny crop tops and printed piped shirts. Show Stopper Nargis Fakhri looked bubbly in yellow midi dress.
India’s top fashion site Jabong.com launched the trendy Tom Tailor collection for women and men. Tom Tailor is internationally renowned lifestyle brand sold in 35 countries. The ever so stylish Aditya Roy Kapoor represented men’s section. Thanks to Jabong.com for bringing this brand in India.
Nishka Lulla spread comfort and carefree style on the ramp with muslin, organza and lace. Nishka’s collection was filled with pastels, glacier grey, ice blue, almond and strawberry pink. Show Stopper Kalki Koechlin won everyone’s heart with her perky attitude.
Shivan and Narresh were the talk of the show. The two internationally renowned names highlighted the glamorous mix of resort, cruise and jewelled swim wear in eye catching colors.
Tarun Tahiliani’s “Past Modern” collection was presented by Reliance Trends wherein he brought the Mughal sensibilities by beautifully translating miniature paintings on digitally printed clothes. Show Stopper Chitrangada Singh was looking flawlessly beautiful in the colorful attire.
International designer Natalie Jolliffe of Miss Bennett London,a UK based brand, presented stylish ready-to-wear options for young girls. Shraddha Kapoor was seen on ramp in uber chic garment.
The 25th season of Lakme Fashion Week was wrapped up with spectacular Grand Finale by Anamika Khanna. Her collection was inspired by “Sculpt” displaying craftsmanship and construction. Gold. silver, ivory, black, dark blue, soft pink and nude were in the color palette. Kareena Kapoor, the face of Lakme, took the center stage. Besides, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha and Jacqueline Fernandez flaunted Anamika’s collection.
And yet again the show became not only talk of the town but talk of the world. The designers are getting appreciation and positive response from the audiences, buyers and international stores. So the trend has been set for 2015. FOLLOW IT!!
